Welcome to the

Niles-Buchanan YMCA

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. We’re more than just a place to work out. At the Y, we help build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all with the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at the heart of everything we do.

With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA is excited to host the annual Fall Festival in partnership with the Niles District Library and the Niles Noon Optimists. The festival will include many different games and events, some of which include pumpkin seed spitting, pumpkin bowling, apple bobbing, story time, a bounce house, magician, a scarecrow making contest and more. Healthy snacks will be provided.

Also featured is the Optimists pumpkin race. For only five dollars, you can purchase a pumpkin race kit which includes axles and wheels. Registration for the race opens at noon and judging begins at 12:45. The race itself begins at 1:00 pm. Pumpkin racers also have the option of donating five canned goods in lieu of the five dollar entry fee.

The library will be hosting a costume contest on site at the YMCA. There will be three age brackets: 0-4 years, 5-8 years, and 9-12 years. Additionally, there will be six costume categories: cutest, scariest, funniest, most heroic, most creative, and best book character. The 18 winners will each get a $20 bookstore gift card. There is no entry fee, but participants much be registered by 3:00 pm on the day of the event.

The event will take place October 29, from 1-4 pm at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA. There is no entry fee, and it’s open to the public. Once the event is over, participants are encouraged to head downtown for trick or treating along Main Street, which begins at 4 pm and ends at 5 pm. For questions, call the Y at (269) 683-1552.
