The Niles-Buchanan YMCA strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. We’re more than just a place to work out. At the Y, we help build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all with the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at the heart of everything we do.

With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.

Our fully customizable summer day camp is designed for students who have completed kindergarten through 5th grade. We promise to engage your children with the most possible options for all.

  • Camp dates: July 6 – August 14
    Mon-Fri. 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at Ballard Elementary.

  • 3 different “tracks” to peak your child’s interests: Around the World track, Movin' and Fuelin' track, and Mad Scientist track.

  • Each track has a different focus every two weeks.

Registration for Niles Community School students begins Friday, May 1st, forms will come home from the school with students. Online registration begins at 6:00 am. Though we are able to provide camp for many more campers this year, space is limited.

Online Registration will be available May 1st, 6:00 am.

On April 25th the YMCA staff will provide your child with a safe and fun-filled evening. Parents, this is YOUR time to go out on the town or enjoy a relaxing evening at home. We will play games, make crafts, and swim. Fresh fruit, veggies, and pizza will be provided.


For over 35 years the Niles-Buchanan YMCA Learning Tree Preschool has been striving to prepare children for Kindergarten. The Learning Tree Preschool is a state Licensed preschool for children ages 3, 4, and 5. Our preschool provides initial school experiences, while giving the children the academic foundation to build further academic skills. Children of the Learning Tree preschool get the benefits of one-on-one swim lessons in the YMCA pool, work on developing gross motor education in the gym class, and learn about nutrition education from a registered dietitian.


The Niles-Buchanan YMCA will be hosting Healthy Kids Day on April 18th, 2015. This event will be held at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. It is a free event open to all youth and their families.


On March 21 the Niles-Buchanan YMCA hosted a “Night Out” at the YMCA for the Niles Wrestling Team and their coaches. Under supervision, the wrestlers had the entire YMCA building to themselves. This allowed them to have free access to the gym, pool, and fitness equipment. Food was sponsored by local Niles restaurants: Pizza Hut, Burger King, and Wings Etc.


The Niles-Buchanan YMCA would like to thank the Niles Education Foundation for sponsoring Summer My Way ®. This is the second year the Niles Education Foundation has financially supported this youth program. This year the Niles Education Foundation Boards of Directors voted to fund the Niles-Buchanan YMCA $5,000 to assist in cover the costs of Summer My Way ®.


The Niles-Buchanan YMCA is happy to announce Spring Fling Camp to be held March 30, 2015 to April 4, 2015. This event is held in conjunction with the Spring Break of many local community schools. Spring Fling will be held during the day from 9 am to 4 pm and will cost $75 for members and $105 for non-members. Before and after care are available for an additional fee.


Let’s get ready to shake and rumble. The Niles-Buchanan YMCA will be holding a Kickin’ and Shakin’ Fundraiser on March 21, 2015 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise proceeds for Angie Stickney, a 25 year Niles-Buchanan YMCA employee, who has cancer. This event will be featuring Zumba and Rumble classes. The cost is $10 a ticket or $12 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the YMCA Member Service Desk.


The Lakeland Health Foundation, Niles and Niles-Buchanan YMCA have announced the date for their 2nd Annual Hope Grows fundraiser, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 7, at noon.

This initiative began in 2014 as a partnership to deliver a continuum of care to thousands of patients and families impacted by cancer. Hope Grows 2015 will continue to raise funds to support cancer screenings, treatment, follow-up care, and The LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, regardless of ability to pay.


The Niles-Buchanan YMCA would like to thank the Niles Four Flags Apple Festival for sponsoring Kids Night Out. This is the second year the Four Flags Apple Festival has sponsored the youth program. This year the Niles Four Flags Apple Festival board voted to fund the Niles-Buchanan YMCA $1,500 to assist in covering the costs of Kids Night Out.
