The Niles-Buchanan YMCA is happy to announce Spring Fling Camp to be held March 30, 2015 to April 4, 2015. This event is held in conjunction with the Spring Break of many local community schools. Spring Fling will be held during the day from 9 am to 4 pm and will cost $75 for members and $105 for non-members. Before and after care are available for an additional fee.

Let’s get ready to shake and rumble. The Niles-Buchanan YMCA will be holding a Kickin’ and Shakin’ Fundraiser on March 21, 2015 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise proceeds for Angie Stickney, a 25 year Niles-Buchanan YMCA employee, who has cancer. This event will be featuring Zumba and Rumble classes. The cost is $10 a ticket or $12 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the YMCA Member Service Desk.

The Lakeland Health Foundation, Niles and Niles-Buchanan YMCA have announced the date for their 2nd Annual Hope Grows fundraiser, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 7, at noon.

This initiative began in 2014 as a partnership to deliver a continuum of care to thousands of patients and families impacted by cancer. Hope Grows 2015 will continue to raise funds to support cancer screenings, treatment, follow-up care, and The LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, regardless of ability to pay.

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA would like to thank the Niles Four Flags Apple Festival for sponsoring Kids Night Out. This is the second year the Four Flags Apple Festival has sponsored the youth program. This year the Niles Four Flags Apple Festival board voted to fund the Niles-Buchanan YMCA $1,500 to assist in covering the costs of Kids Night Out.

Give a life-saving gift, give blood. The Niles-Buchanan YMCA will be holding a Blood Drive on Monday, February 16, 2015 from 3 pm – 7 pm. Donating blood may be one of the most important things you’ve ever done. It is a safe and easy process which takes approximately 45 minutes.

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA, in partnership with Berrien RESA, Van Buren Intermediate School District, and Niles Community Schools, is providing nutrition education to Kindergartener students in the Niles Community Schools. The program aligns curriculum activities and objectives with Michigan Model for Health Education and the USDA SNAP Ed Project to educate students and parents on the importance and benefits of maintaining a well-balanced, healthy diet along with regular physical fitness activities.

Registration is now open for winter Youth Basketball Leagues at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA. Age, grade and skill level determine team assignments and there are 35 teams. Each player will be given a skills assessment in December and begin practice in January. Official league games begin in February with the season lasting six weeks. Teams practice during the week and games are on Saturdays.
