Welcome to the

Niles-Buchanan YMCA

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. We’re more than just a place to work out. At the Y, we help build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all with the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at the heart of everything we do.

With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.

February is the month celebrating love and we want to show how much we care about our community! From February 1st to February 28th, we're running Pay the Day Membership Promotion. For this month only, if you sign up for a membership, the price of your joiner's fee is the day you join. On February 1st, you pay $1 for the joiner's fee. On February 2nd, you pay $2. On February 3rd, you pay $3, and so on. The sooner you join, the more you save!

Drop by the Y today and kickstart February!

The Boards of Directors for the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA and the Niles-Buchanan YMCA have voted to merge into one association. The two locations have been under a management agreement since June 1, 2016, with the original intent of sharing resources to best advance the YMCA’s mission of supporting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

This winter, Speedball Fitness will be coming to the Niles-Buchanan YMCA. Speedball Fitness incorporates a medicine ball as a resistance tool to improve muscular and cardiovascular endurance. On Friday, January 20th, the creator of Speedball himself, Steve Feinberg, will come to the Y to teach a class. This class is open to anyone.

Then on Saturday, Feinberg will host an instructor training, which is open to the public but requires registration first. Sign up to become a certified trainer here. More information can be found from our Facebook event or on the official website. Hope to see you there!

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA is excited to host the annual Fall Festival in partnership with the Niles District Library and the Niles Noon Optimists. The festival will include many different games and events, some of which include pumpkin seed spitting, pumpkin bowling, apple bobbing, story time, a bounce house, magician, a scarecrow making contest and more. Healthy snacks will be provided.

You voted, and the results are in! The 2016 'Design Our Logo' contest winner is Haley Mills, a graphic designer from LaPorte, Indiana. Her logo will be featured on the t-shirts for this year's race, as well as all the flyers and materials going out into the community. Stay tuned for our t-shirt reveal to be coming soon.

In the meantime, race registration is now open! Click here to sign up. We're offering a 10k, 5k, or 1 Mile Fun Run! It's never to early to get registered.

The Niles-Buchanan and the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCAs have entered into a Management Agreement beginning June 1, 2016. The Boards of Directors of both YMCAs reached this agreement after the results of a recent study conducted by both YMCAs and YMCA of the USA. The study was initiated after Mike Ahern, CEO of the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA, announced his retirement earlier this year effective the end of May. Mark Weber, CEO of the Niles-Buchanan YMCA, will provide leadership to the collaboration efforts.

On Saturday, April 30, the Niles-Buchanan YMCA is holding a free community event to inspire kids to stay active. This year marks the 25th year for Healthy Kids Day®, the Y’s national initiative to improve health and well-being for kids and families. This event features activities such as family yoga and boot camp classes, a fitness obstacle course, Zumba classes, bounce house, and many more examples of healthy activities to motivate and teach families how to develop healthy routines at home.

The Greater Southwest Chapter of Credit Unions has awarded a $2,000 grant to the Niles-Buchanan YMCA.
